FAQ
Common questions
What is an office workstation?
A workstation is a desk unit designed for an office floor: a work top, a frame, usually a screen between seats, and space for power, cabling and storage. Workstations come as linear rows, L-shaped desks or clusters, and are usually made to order to fit the layout.
What size should an office workstation be?
Common desk widths are about 1200, 1350 or 1500 mm, with depths of about 600 or 750 mm and a working height of about 750 mm. Wider desks suit people with two screens or paperwork; narrower ones fit more seats. Your layout decides the final size.
How many workstations fit in my office?
As a rough guide, open-plan offices are often planned at around 60–100 sq ft of carpet area per person, including aisles, meeting space and storage. Columns, windows and power points change the real number, so send a floor plan and we'll get a layout-based quote.
Linear or L-shaped workstations: which is better?
Linear workstations fit more seats and are easier to extend. L-shaped desks give more surface and suit team leads or roles with lots of paperwork. Many offices mix both.
Can you match or extend our existing workstations?
Often, yes. Send photos and measurements of what you have, including the frame system and laminate colour, and we'll ask manufacturers to quote on matching units.
Do you manufacture workstations yourselves?
No. FurnishDesk is a procurement desk. We source from workstation manufacturers, compare their quotes and manage the order for you.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
We don't set one. Manufacturers' minimums vary, and very small orders can cost more per seat. Tell us your seat count and we'll tell you what's practical.
